HARRISBURG – The owners of a Camp Hill property are seeking damages after an allegedly defective dehumidifier caused fire damage.
Hau Ngo and To T. Ngo filed a complaint on Dec. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Gree USA Inc., MJC America LTD, Gree Electric Appliances Inc. of Zhuhai, and Hong Kong Gree Electric Appliances Sales LTD alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs sustained fire damaged to their property on July 26, 2016, because of a design defect and/or malfunction of a dehumidifier manufactured by the defendants. They allege the dehumidifier failed and erupted into flames.
The plaintiffs hold Gree USA Inc., MJC America LTD, Gree Electric Appliances Inc. of Zhuhai, and Hong Kong Gree Electric Appliances Sales LTD responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their duty when it distributed the defective dehumidifiers.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for damages that exceeds $150,000, damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Richard J. Boyd Jr. of de Luca Levine LLC in Blue Bell.
