Life Insurance Co. of North America alleged to have wrongfully terminated woman's disability benefits

Insurance 05

PHILADELPHIA – A Mechanicsburg woman is seeking disability benefits from an insurance company.

Jennine Kim filed a complaint on Dec. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Life Insurance Co. of North America alleging that the insurance company refused to pay plaintiff's claim for benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was disabled as the result of having several medical conditions, including chronic pain syndrome and symptomatic post-procedural ovarian failure and stopped working in June 2016. The suit states she applied for short-term disability benefits with the defendant, which were awarded for a while and then later terminated. She alleges her claim for long-term disability benefits also was denied.

The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Co. of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to fully and fairly review her claims.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant, payment of disability benefits, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Joseph Capitan of Abell & Capitan Law in Philadelphia.
