Law money 09

PHILADELPHIA – A University Park academic institution is alleged to have not paid a research assistant for his work.

Joel Solkoff filed a complaint on Feb. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against The Pennsylvania State University alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant as a research assistant in 2012 and held the position until his termination in October 2017. He alleges he worked 25 to 30 hours per week for 46 to 52 weeks per year and was not compensated.

The plaintiff holds The Pennsylvania State University responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay him any wages for the hours he worked.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunction against the defendant, unpaid wages, overtime wages, liquidated damages, punitive damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Adam Harrison Harner of The Garner Firm LTD in Philadelphia.
