Shift leader alleges Dunkin Donuts failed to pay her appropriate overtime rate

Law money 10

PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia woman alleges she was not properly compensated for overtime work during her employment with a restaurant.

Deborah Bowens filed a complaint on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Shirdi Sainath Krupa LLC, doing business as Dunkin Donuts, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired as a shift leader for the defendant and her work consisted of cleaning, cashiering, training and servicing customers. She alleges she worked more than 40 hours per workweek.

The plaintiff holds Shirdi Sainath Krupa LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay an overtime premium to the plaintiff for working more than 40 hours per week at a rate of time-and-one-half of her regular rate.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for actual and liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Angeli Murthy of Morgan & Morgan PA in Plantation, Florida.
