Target patron alleges detergent on floor caused fall

Slip01

PITTSBURGH – A shopper at a Monroeville store alleges that she injured her knee and back after slipping on detergent.

Michelle Polenavitch filed a complaint on March 9 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Target Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 7, 2017, she sustained serious physical injuries when she slipped and fell because of liquid detergent that was left on the floor. She alleges she injured her lower back and left knee as a result.

The plaintiff holds Target Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to remove the liquid detergent that was left on the floor or provide adequate warning.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $35,000 but not more than $75,000, plus court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Marc I. Simon of Simon & Simon PC in Pittsburgh.
