PHILADELPHIA — An insurance company is suing a power supply company, citing alleged negligence.
Ohio Security Insurance Company filed a complaint on April 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Myers Power Products Inc., alleging that the defendant breached its duty of due care while replacing a battery-powered backup power supply system, which allegedly caught fire a few months later.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that a fire originated in one of the battery backup power supply system cabinets at Temple Beth El of Allentown Inc. The plaintiff allegedly has made more than $240,000 in payments to Temple Beth El of Allentown Inc. for repairs and damages under their insurance contract.
The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to take all necessary and reasonable precautions to prevent the synagogue from being damaged.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount that exceeds $240,000, plus interest and the cost of this action. The plaintiff is represented by Steven K. Gerber in Philadelphia.
