Tri-State Neurosurgical Associates - UPMC Inc. accused of firing employee because of her alleged disability

Wrongful term 10

PITTSBURGH — An individual is suing her former employer, Tri-State Neurosurgical Associates - UPMC Inc., for alleged retaliation and wrongful termination.

Cynthia Williams filed a complaint on April 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired because of her disability. The plaintiff allegedly has problems with her sciatic nerve, which allegedly got worse after she allegedly fell in the defendant's parking lot. After she returned from a leave of absence that she took to undergo surgery, she allegedly was placed on a performance improvement plan and then fired.

As a result, the plaintiff claims that she has suffered financial damages. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly terminating her employment because of her disability.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for lost wages, front pay, liquidated damages, pre-judgment interest, costs and any other just and proper relief. She is represented by Sean L. Ruppert of Kraemer, Manes & Associates LLC in Pittsburgh.
