Everest Receivable Services Inc. accused of using abusive debt collection practices

HARRISBURG — An individual is suing Everest Receivable Services Inc. and Does 1-10 for alleged harassment and abusive debt collection practices.

Lisa Kijewski-Womer filed a complaint on April 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated the Pennsylvania Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants called her mother and pretended to be from the "Cerebral Palsy Fund" in an attempt to collect the plaintiff's alleged debt. As a result of the defendant's alleged actions, the plaintiff claims that she has suffered and continues to suffer humiliation, anger, anxiety, emotional distress, fear, frustration and embarrassment. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, statutory and treble damages; litigation costs; and any other just and proper relief. She is represented by Jody B. Burton of Lemberg Law LLC in Wilton, Conn.
