PHILADELPHIA — An individual has filed a class action lawsuit against FBCS Inc., LVNV Funding LLC and Does 1-25, citing alleged abusive, deceptive and unfair debt collection practices.

Amber Carter filed a complaint on April 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she received a letter from the defendants about an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly falsely stating that interest and fees were accruing when they were not. She further claims that the defendants coerced her into not exercising her rights under the FDCPA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order certifying this matter as a class action and appointing her and her counsel as representatives, plus actual and statutory damages, interest and any other just and proper relief. She is represented by Antranig Garibian of Garibian Law Offices PC in Philadelphia.
