SCRANTON — A police officer is suing the City of Nanticoke for alleged violation of employment laws.
Kara Kroll filed a complaint May 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the city violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by forcing her to go to medical appointments necessary for the treatment of a sprained neck she suffered on the job outside of her scheduled work hours without paying her overtime.
According to the complaint, the defendant allegedly refused to pay one and one‐half times the employee’s pay for all hours worked over 40 hours in a work week and required her to take her medical appointments outside her eight-hour shift.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid overtime wages and benefits, liquidated damages, attorney's fees and costs, pre‐judgment and post‐judgment interest, delay damages and other relief. She is represented by Cynthia L. Pollick of The Employment Law Firm in Pittston.
