Estate administrator blames St. Francis Country House for patient death

Medical malpractice 07

MEDIA — An estate administrator is suing St. Francis Center for Rehabilitation & Health Care, also known as St. Francis Country House, and several others, citing alleged breach of duty and negligence, causing injuries.

Joanna Grandelli, as executrix on behalf of the estate of Marie Uva, filed a complaint June 18 in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, claiming that the defendants violated Pennsylvania's Wrongful Death Act and Survival Act.

According to the complaint, at the time of Uva's admission to the defendants' facility, they allegedly assessed her needs and were aware of her medical conditions and the care and treatment she required.

However, Grandelli alleged that Uva's complaints were allegedly ignored, causing her condition to deteriorate and leading to her death on Dec. 29, 2017.

The plaintiff said the defendants allegedly failed to ensure that residents enjoy a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment and are provided necessary care and services with proper nurse staffing.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment for all available damages in an amount in excess of $50,000, exclusive of pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, and costs. She is represented by Arnold Dranoff of Dranoff and Patrizio, PC in Philadelphia.
