PITTSBURGH — A pilot is suing Chip Ganassi Racing Teams, Amalgamated Consolidated Inc. and Floyd R. Ganassi Jr., his employer, citing alleged breach of contract and violations of the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law, and the Indiana Wage Payment Statute.

Ray D. Daughhetee Jr. filed a complaint on July 17, in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against the defendants, alleging that they breached their contractual obligations to the plaintiff for constituting an act of employment termination without cause and by not providing the required wages and severance payments.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Sept. 28, 2017, he received a letter from the defendants stating that his "employment relationship with Chip Ganassi Racing will terminate with [his] resignation effective Sept. 27, 2017" even though Mr. Daughhetee never resigned.

The plaintiff holds Chip Ganassi Racing Teams and others responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay him his wages and benefits for the period between Oct. 27, 2017 and the present. Additionally, their actions are found to constitute a termination without cause, and have failed to give him a severance pay.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount exceeding $35,000 plus compensatory damages, consequential damages, liquidated damages. Mr Daughhtee also respectfully requests for attorney's fees and costs and pre- and post-judgment interests. He is represented by Steven E. Winslow of Jubelirer, Pass & Intrieri PC in Pittsburgh.
