Scranton Econo Lodge sued over bedbugs

SCRANTON — A visitor from Brooklyn accuses a local motel of allowing an infestation of bedbugs.

Richard Blaine filed a complaint on Aug. 22 in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas against Shri Nathji Associates, which operates an Econo Lodge.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was bitten over a 100 times by bedbugs in motel room. He  suffered painful bedbugs bite, severe anxiety, emotional distress and hospitalization expenses, the complaint states. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in a sum exceeding the jurisdictional limits of the court. He is represented by Ryan P Campbell and Howard A. Rothenberg of Howard Rothenberg & Associates in Scranton.
