Lawsuit says woman got stuck on water slide at Camelback and was struck from behind

Federal Court
Camelback

SCRANTON – A New Jersey woman who allegedly suffered cervical spine injuries while at a Tannerville water park alleges the park failed to inspect an attraction for dangerous conditions.

Jacqueline Rivas filed a complaint Nov. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against CBK Lodge General Partner LLC, doing business as Camelback Lodge and Indoor Water Park, Camelback Lodge and Aquatopia; CBK Lodge LP; and others, alleging negligence.

Rivas alleges she was riding the defendants' Storm Chaser Water Coaster with her teenage brother on Jan. 12, 2018, when it malfunctioned, resulting in them being stuck inside the slide and hit by another rider. Rivas alleges that she suffered spine injuries that required surgery and alleges Camelback staff failed to stop other riders from coming down the slide and did not come to their immediate aid.

Rivas seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Thomas Dinan of Garces & Grabler & Lebrocq PC in Philadelphia.
