Arnstein and Lehr LLP issued the following announcement on Jan. 6.

Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP announced today that it has elected seven attorneys to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2020. The new partners are:

Michael J. Joyce, a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice in the Pittsburgh, Pa. office. Mr. Joyce handles commercial disputes and insurance matters. His commercial litigation experience includes high-stakes contractual disputes, intellectual property and software cases, trade secret misappropriation and other injunction matters, and construction cases. His insurance litigation work includes defending fiduciaries against claims asserted under ERISA and defending global health insurance and health service companies against ERISA benefit claims. Mr. Joyce also represents media industry clients on matters ranging from defamation to privacy issues to government open records/Right to Know Law disputes. He is a member of Leadership Pittsburgh, LDI XXIII and a Pittsburgh CLO Ambassador.

Domingos Silva, a member of the Intellectual Property Practice in the Philadelphia, Pa. office. He is a patent attorney who drafts and prosecutes patent applications in the areas of pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, diagnostics, biotechnology and materials sciences. He also performs prior art searches, handles due diligence, and drafts legal opinions on patentability and freedom-to-operate. Mr. Silva has a long professional history in the science field, including a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Princeton, a post-doctorate fellowship at MIT and stints as a research scientist for Incara Research Labs and as a medicinal chemistry manager in the oncology and antibacterial programs for GlaxoSmithKline.

Sarah A. Sullivan, a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice in the Newark, NJ office. Ms. Sullivan represents pharmaceutical companies involved in complex, high-stakes patent litigation. She concentrates her practice on Hatch-Waxman ANDA cases and disputes over the intellectual property behind branded pharmaceuticals. She is part of the Firm's patent litigation team and serves as New Jersey litigation counsel in patent cases for major pharmaceutical companies. This team was nationally recognized by a 2018 Lex Machina report as one of the top five "Go-To" law firms for patent litigation. Ms. Sullivan has also represented clients in complex commercial disputes involving contracts and intellectual property assets.

Steven Appelbaum, a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He handles complex disputes ranging from matters involving real estate, commercial contracts and landlord-tenant issues to business fraud, the Uniform Commercial Code and banking. Mr. Appelbaum also advises on corporate dissolutions and shareholder disputes, construction matters and products liability. He has experience representing clients in arbitration and defending companies facing class actions. Mr. Appelbaum was selected as a "Top Up and Comer” in the 2020 South Florida Legal Guide.

John A. Turner, a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice in West Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Turner practices primarily in state and federal courts, with an emphasis on commercial leasing litigation, including CAM disputes, nuisance claims, FF&E damage claims and actions for possession. His practice also encompasses litigation relating to real property sales, corporate and partnership disputes and intellectual property rights. He also defends institutional clients against personal injury claims based upon products and premises liability theories and maritime law. Mr. Turner is a member of the Palm Beach County Business Development Board.

Cory S. Winter, a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice in Harrisburg, Pa. He represents colleges, universities, and other institutions of higher education in Title IX claims and advises them on compliance with the Clery Act, FERPA and other legislative mandates. Mr. winter also handles disputes that lead to complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts for clients in higher education, construction and hospitality. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and has been named to the Rising Star list for Pennsylvania Super Lawyers every year since 2016.
