PHILADELPHIA — A former Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility (CFCF) detainee claims a correctional officer used excessive force and caused him to suffer a concussion.

Ian Odoms filed a complaint April 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against CFCF, Correctional Officer Kimberly Smith and others alleging excessive force and other claims.

Odoms was a pretrial detainee at CFCF on April 24, 2018. He alleges that he was refused a request to file a grievance and that while walking into his cell, Smith slammed the door behind him, causing it to bounce off his foot. Odoms claims Smith then hit him in the head with a ring of keys for no reason which caused him to be taken to a hospital, where he was treated for a concussion.

Odoms seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Brian Chacker of Gay Chacker & Mittin PC in Philadelphia.
