PITTSBURGH - Giant Eagle failed a girl who passed out after her flu shot, a new lawsuit says.

Julia Adamczyk and her father Eric sued Giant Eagle earlier this month in Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, alleging its pharmacy staff should have known there was a danger Julia would pass out after a flu shot in 2018.

“Julia Adamzyk suffered an adverse reaction which Defendant knew or should have known was possible, given adolescents are particularly predisposed to the same according to CDC regulations and what should have been addressed in Defendant’s policy and training when she suffered a syncope (vasovagal reaction), passed out and violently fell striking her head with great force on the floor causing her to suffer a fractured skull and concussion,” the lawsuit says.

No Giant Eagle personnel came to her aid, the suit says. The lawsuit charges it with negligence and was filed by John Adamczyk of Adamczyk Law Offices.
