Dickson man injured in workplace explosion wants payback

State Court
Lackawanna

SCRANTON - A Dickson man sued a Michigan manufacturing consulting company after the company's alleged faulty training program resulted in a serious workplace accident.

According to documents filed on March 22 in Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas, plaintiff Robert Straut was a lab technician and line worker at Pennsylvania Medical Solutions in Scranton. Defendant Charles St. Louis, through his business St. Louis Soft Gel Consulting and Sales LLC, was hired by Straut's employer to provide various safety training programs, which Straut underwent for the safe operation of a gelatin mixing tank.

The lawsuit alleges that St. Louis improperly trained the employees including Straut on how to safely operate the tank; as a result, the tank overheated and an explosion occurred that coated Straut in scalding gelatin.

St. Louis and his LLC are each sued for negligence/recklessness for Straut's second-degree burns and PTSD. Straut requests payback for his suffering deemed appropriate by the court, and is represented by Fellerman and Ciarimboli Law PC of Kingston.
