PITTSBURGH — A mother alleges her minor daughter fainted and fell off an examination table after receiving immunizations and suffered a concussion and other injuries.

M.A., a minor by Michele Alandete, guardian and Michele Alandete, individually and in her own right, filed a complaint May 11 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Allegheny Clinic, Allegheny Health Network, Howard Topol, M.D., and Danielle Heinlein, R.N., alleging negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, M.A. received immunization injections at Pediatric Alliance - Greentree on Nov. 13, 2020. They allege that M.A. was placed on a "high examination table" and after receiving the immunizations, began experiencing a "vasovagal syncope episode," fainted, fell off the table and struck her head, face and knee on the floor.

The plaintiffs further claim that M.A. suffered a concussion, head laceration, bruised knee and a chipped tooth among other injuries. The plaintiffs allege that the defendants were negligent for failing to properly monitor M.A. after the immunization injections and failed to prevent her fall.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Edward Levicoff and Lawrenz Fares of The Levicoff Law Firm in Pittsburgh.
