Couple's trip to Lowe's ends in lawsuit

State Court
Lowes

PITTSBURGH — A couple are claiming negligence after the wife tripped over pieces of wood and plastic at a Lowe's store in Monroeville and suffered multiple injuries.

Linda L. Beck and Raymond Beck filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Lowe's Home Centers LLC alleging negligence.

The plaintiffs claim in their suit that Linda Beck was at the Lowe's store on William Penn Highway in Monroeville on May 3, 2020. They allege that Linda Beck was walking through an aisle in the home and garden section of the store when she tripped over a broken piece of wood and plastic "from a pallet or other similar implement."

The plaintiffs claim Beck suffered injuries including a "distal radius fracture," as well as injury to her hip, leg and thumb that may require possible surgeries. They allege Lowe's failed to cordon off the hazard or warn of the dangerous condition and also failed to timely and properly inspect its premises.

The Becks seek monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Michael Megrey of Woomer & Talarico LLC in Pittsburgh.
