Woman sues Days Inn Scranton for personal injury

Federal Court
Icylot

PHILADELPHIA — A woman who slipped and fell on ice and snow accumulation at a Days Inn parking lot in Scranton and suffered multiple injuries is claiming negligence.

Natasha Bobb-Hoyte filed a complaint July 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Dickson Hospitality LLC doing business as Days Inn Scranton alleging negligence.

The plaintiff alleges in her complaint that while at the Days Inn Scranton on Carbondale Highway on Feb. 16, 2021, she slipped and fell on "hills and ridges" of ice and snow that had accumulated in the parking lot.

She claims as a result of her slip and fall, she suffered a displaced fracture of her elbow that required surgery, aggravation of a preexisting condition and injuries to her back and neck as well as other "severe and serious" injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Days Inn Scranton's negligence for failing to inspect their property to ensure it was safe, for allowing the accumulation of the snow which posed a risk of injury and for failing to warn of the hazard with barricades or other safety precautions.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $75,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Steven Laynas of Laynas & Georges PC in Philadelphia.
