Lawsuit: Man fell on defective pavement at alcohol recovery facility, broke hip

LANCASTER — A man who allegedly fell on the walkway at an alcohol recovery facility in Landisville and suffered a hip fracture is claiming negligence. 

Christopher Barletta filed a complaint Aug. 31, in the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County against A New Life Sober Living, JT Sober Living LLC doing business as A New Life Sober Living, Alan Cherkin, Alan Cherkin Real Estate Inc., Matthew Reeves and others alleging negligence. 

Barletta was at  A New Life Sober Living in Landisville on Sept. 20, 2019, according to his suit. He claims that he tripped and fell on "defective pavement" on the walkway and suffered a closed fracture on his hip and other injuries. Barletta alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to maintain and inspect the premises and failing to warn of the dangerous condition such as placing barriers or signs in the area. He further alleges he has suffered permanent injuries and incurred medial expenses as a result of the fall. 

Barletta seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Frederick Horn of The Law Offices of Frederick Horn in Philadelphia.
