PITTSBURGH — A couple allege the wife suffered severe injuries which required surgery after falling down steps at a business in Wexford.

Kathleen Bleakley and Gary Bleakley filed a complaint Aug. 10 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against JAMM Real Estate Holdings LLC and John George alleging negligence.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, Kathleen Bleakley was at a boutique located in a storefront owned and managed by the defendants in Wexford on Oct. 16, 2019. They allege that while walking up the steps of the storefront, Bleakley tripped on the last step, fell forward and hit her face and eye on the brick windowsill.

The plaintiffs claim Kathleen Bleakley suffered lacerations on her face which required stitches, an orbital floor fracture that causes double vision and other injuries which required surgery. They allege the steps had an unstable railing and that the railing stopped short of the last step which was uneven and improperly constructed. The plaintiffs further allege the defendants failed to remove or repair the railing and stairs or warn of the dangerous condition.

The Bleakleys seek monetary relief of more than $35,000, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Matthew Marquette of Echard Marquette PC in Allison Park.
