Fracas lands bar in lawsuit

PITTSBURGH -- Latese Dixon and Charles Wilkes filed a complaint on October 14 in the Court of Common Pleas Allegheny County against B&J Bar and Grille, LLC for negligence, Dram Shop and loss of consortium.

According to the complaint, on July 27, Dixon was at B&J Bar and Grille, LLC with a group of approximately 10 people when a second group of about five people arrived at the establishment. Dixon alleges that the second group was visibly intoxicated at the time that they entered and one member of the second group was visibly struggling to remain on her feet due to being so intoxicated.

Dixon alleges that over at least the course of half an hour, the bar continued to serve the group alcohol, at which time the group loudly goaded and harassed Dixon’s group. Dixon alleges that at no time did the second group stop being served alcohol.

A companion that was with Dixon went to leave, when the second group went to follow in a manner which was visibly threatening, causing Dixon's group to intervene and the conflict escalated into an altercation, the suit says. Security staff became involved, and one of the employees allegedly slammed into Dixon and tackled her to the ground, causing severe injury to her leg. Dixon alleges that the employee refused to call emergency assistance of any kind for the incident.

Dixon is represented by Jordan Strokovsky.
