PITTSBURGH — A woman claims an aggressive horse at a riding ranch in Bridgeville caused her fall and injuries.

Jodie Brown filed a complaint Feb. 1 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Rolling Hills Ranch Inc., alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, Brown and her son and granddaugther were taking a guided horseback ride at the Rolling Hills Ranch in Bridgeville on July 22, 2020. She claims after a few minutes into the ride, their guide left them unattended and that halfway through the ride, her horse began to display aggressive behavior.

She further claims the horse picked up speed without prompting which caused her to be "violently" knocked to the ground. Brown alleges no one from the Rolling Hills Ranch called for medical assistance or offer any type of assistance to her after the fall.

She also alleges as a result of the fall, she suffered a fractured vertebra, a spinal hematoma, bruises, contusions and other injuries. Brown claims Rolling Hills' negligence for failing to instruct or warn her about the proper way to calm down the aggressive horse, failing to adequately train its horses and for allowing a horse that exhibits dangerous behavior to be allowed for horseback riding.

Brown seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Ian Watt of Friday & Cox LLC in Pittsburgh.
