The lawsuit alleges that Diane Royster died due to complications from Baclofen toxicity after being prescribed an inappropriate dosage by PA Korzi during a routine medical appointment on April 6, 2023. Royster's death occurred on April 17, 2023, following multiple hospitalizations and treatments for severe side effects caused by the medication.

The complaint details that Ms. Royster experienced worsening tremors and muscle spasms leading to her hospitalization at UPMC Presbyterian Emergency Department where she was diagnosed with Baclofen intoxication and acute hypercarbic respiratory failure. Despite undergoing hemodialysis and other treatments, her condition deteriorated until her death.

Jayne Rhodes, as the administratrix of the estate of Diane Royster, has filed a lawsuit against Melissa A. Korzi, PA-C, and Gleason Medical Associates, P.C.

The case is being heard in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and was filed on May 20th, 2024. Attorneys George M. Kontos and Katie A. Killion represent the plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks damages for medical expenses, funeral costs, loss of companionship and services, conscious pain and suffering endured by Ms. Royster before her death, as well as other financial losses under Pennsylvania’s Wrongful Death Act and Survival Act.
