Couple sues St. Clair Memorial Hospital for negligence after woman suffers severe injuries from fall

This case involves allegations of professional negligence following an incident where Mary Lu Lijewski suffered severe injuries after falling in her hospital room. The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Richard C. Levine and Brandon R. Keller from Ainsman Levine, LLC. On August 4, 2023, Mary Lu Lijewski was admitted to the hospital for left leg pain and underwent emergency surgery. 

Despite being on post-surgical narcotic pain medications and having her catheter removed on August 5, no post-surgical fall risk assessment was conducted. Consequently, she fell on August 6 in the middle of the night while trying to leave her be, suffering multiple serious injuries including a full skin thickness laceration and anemia due to severe blood loss.

Mary Lu Lijewski and Francis Lijewski have filed a lawsuit against St. Clair Memorial Hospital, in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The case was filed on May 20th, 2024.

Mary Lu Lijewski is seeking damages for physical pain and suffering, emotional distress, medical expenses, and loss of enjoyment of life. Francis Lijewski is claiming damages for loss of consortium and additional expenses incurred due to his wife's injuries.
