Kyleigh McQuaid has filed a lawsuit against The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, The Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. The case, filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (Docket No.: not provided), was initiated on May 16, 2024. McQuaid alleges negligence leading to severe injuries sustained during a Major League Baseball game at PNC Park on June 17, 2022.

Represented by attorney Chad P. Shannon from Friday & Cox LLC, McQuaid claims that while seated in Section 121 Row AA near home plate, she was struck in the right eye by a high-velocity baseball that passed through a gap in the protective netting. This incident resulted in multiple injuries including orbital fractures and loss of sight. McQuaid asserts that the defendants failed to provide adequate safety measures despite being aware of the risks.

McQuaid is seeking judgment for damages exceeding arbitration limits. She requests compensation for physical and mental suffering, medical expenses, loss of earnings, and impairment of future earning capacity due to permanent injuries caused by the alleged negligence.
