In a compelling case filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, the plaintiff has brought serious allegations against multiple senior living and rehabilitation facilities. The complaint was lodged by Barbara M. Valcheff on behalf of herself and as executrix of her late mother Anneliese M. Valcheff's estate on an unspecified date in 2023, targeting Valley Medical Facilities, Inc., and other associated entities.

Barbara M. Valcheff alleges that the defendants' negligence led to her mother's wrongful death and seeks compensatory damages exceeding jurisdictional arbitration limits. According to the complaint, Anneliese M. Valcheff, an 85-year-old woman with a history of medical conditions including rheumatoid arthritis and hypertension, was admitted to The Willows' Memory Care/Dementia unit on August 24, 2022. Despite requiring extensive supervision, her care plan was never finalized due to understaffing.

The situation escalated dramatically on September 22, 2022, when Ms. Valcheff was assaulted by another resident at The Willows facility. She sustained severe injuries including a T2 compression fracture and a burst fracture of T12 vertebral bodies after being pushed to the floor and repeatedly hit with a shoe by the male assailant. Following this traumatic event, she was transported to Allegheny General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Ms. Valcheff’s condition deteriorated further during her stay at Moon Township Rehabilitation Center following her discharge from UPMC Mercy Hospital on September 29, 2022. Despite multiple hospitalizations for urinary tract infections (UTIs) and other complications over several months, her family expressed concerns about inadequate hydration and nutrition provided by the facility staff.

By April 6, 2023, Ms. Valcheff’s health had declined significantly; she exhibited symptoms consistent with sepsis but received no timely intervention or antibiotics from Moon Rehab staff. She was eventually transferred to UPMC Magee Hospital Emergency Department where she was diagnosed with septic shock secondary to enterococcus UTI but unfortunately passed away on April 10th due to vasopressor-dependent septic shock.

The plaintiff asserts that both The Willows and Moon Township Rehabilitation failed in their duty of care towards Ms. Valcheff through numerous acts of negligence such as inadequate staffing levels leading directly to her assault; failure to provide necessary medical treatments promptly; lack of proper documentation; insufficient training for staff members among others which ultimately resulted in Ms.Valcheff's untimely demise.

Plaintiff Barbara M.Valcheff is seeking compensatory damages covering medical expenses incurred during treatment periods along with compensation for pain suffering endured by her mother before passing away plus additional costs related funeral arrangements etc.,

Representing Barbara M.Valcheff are attorneys Elizabeth A.Chiappetta & Allison H.Greene from Robert Peirce & Associates P.C., while presiding over this case will be Judge [Name] under Case ID [Number].
