A woman is suing a fitness gym for negligence after a severe injury caused by faulty equipment. Alexa Schlegel filed the complaint in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on August 13, 2024, against W.O.L.F. Fitness Gyms, LLC.

The incident occurred on August 22, 2023, at W.O.L.F. Fitness Gym's North Wales, PA location. According to the complaint, Schlegel was using a lat pulldown machine when its bar violently fell onto her head due to improper maintenance. The malfunctioning counterbalance mechanism failed to prevent the bar from falling unrestrainedly. As a result, Schlegel sustained severe and permanent injuries including traumatic brain injury, nerve damage, and various other physical ailments.

Schlegel's attorney Adam S. Barrist claims that W.O.L.F. Fitness Gyms had or should have had actual and constructive notice of the dangerous condition of the equipment but took no action to rectify it. The complaint accuses the gym of failing to maintain or repair faulty equipment and neglecting their duty of care towards patrons like Schlegel.

The lawsuit seeks judgment in excess of $150,000 for medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of life's pleasures, and other damages incurred due to the incident. The plaintiff also demands a jury trial.

Attorney Adam S. Barrist represents Alexa Schlegel in this case before Judge [Judge’s Name] under Case ID 2:24-cv-04162.
