A woman is seeking justice after a dog attack left her with severe injuries and permanent scarring. Rhiannon Ray filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, on July 30, 2024, against David A. Bryer, Kristina L. Bryer, and Olivia Bryer.
According to the complaint, Ray was walking her dog with her wife Samantha on May 27, 2024, when they were attacked by a large Pitbull and Great Dane mix owned by the defendants. The dog allegedly escaped from the Bryers' property at 749 Woodbourne Avenue in Pittsburgh and charged at Ray, biting her arm and causing significant injuries including nerve damage and scarring. "The Defendants allowed their vicious dog to run loose without leash or restraint," the complaint states.
Ray's attorney, Laura R. Signorelli of Morgan & Morgan Philadelphia P.C., argues that the defendants were negligent in failing to control their dog despite knowing its aggressive tendencies. The complaint cites multiple violations of Pennsylvania laws regarding animal control and claims that the defendants had prior knowledge of the dog's dangerous behavior. "Defendants acted outrageously in failing to take any appropriate action to maintain physical restraint of the dog," it reads.
Ray is seeking compensatory damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of wages due to impairment in her professional golfing vocation, and other related costs. Additionally, she is asking for punitive damages due to what she describes as willful and wanton disregard for public safety by the defendants.
The case is being overseen by Judge Yalind L) gous under Case ID: BC694E30-084B-42EC-B4C6-30413738B063.
