PITTSBURGH — A former employee is suing a management company over claims that he was terminated on the basis of his age.

John F. Mayo filed a lawsuit on April 4 in the U.S. District Court for there Western District of Pennsylvania against TRP Cranberry Management LLC, citing violations of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, Mayo is 69 years old and had been employed with the defendant for 25 years when he was put under the supervision of a new general manager. The plaintiff claims that when the new manager began, he fired a number of employees over the age of 40 and replaced them with younger workers.

On Sept. 3, 2015, Mayo was allegedly terminated in a similar way and replaced with a younger employee in violation of his rights.

Mayo seeks back and front pay, punitive damages, pre and post-judgment interest, costs of suit, attorney and expert witness fees, compensatory damages, and a trial by jury. He is represented by Martell Harris of Kraemer, Manes & Associates LLC, in Pittsburgh.
