PITTSBURGH – A dock worker has sued a barge company over a slip and fall she claims was caused by a defective and dangerous winch cable.
Donna Yoder-Watters filed a lawsuit March 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Ingram Barge Company, Ingram Distribution Group, Inc. and Ingram Industries doing business as Ingram Marine Group, alleging negligence.
Yoder-Watters claims that on or about March 21, 2014, while working on Ingram Barge Number 1710, she suffered multiple fractures, cuts, bruises and soft tissue injuries when she lost her balance while in the process of hooking and assembling a group of barges for load out.
She claims the winch cable on the barge was defective and dangerous. She is seeking an amount in the excess of $75,000 plus costs and interest.
Yoder-Watters, who is demanding a jury trial, is being represented by attorney Richard P. Gilardi of Gilardi, Oliver & Lomupo in Pittsburgh.
