Erie Insurance Exhange blames former renters for alleged fire damage

PITTSBURGH — An insurance company is suing Pittsburgh residents Margaret L. Williams and Evelyn Harvey, alleging that they are responsible for damages from a residential fire.

Erie Insurance Exhange, as subrogee of property owners Fausta Onorato and Sandro Onorato, filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against the defendants, alleging that they are responsible for fire damages to a property they rented from the Onoratos.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff claims that Erie Insurance Exhange a/s/o Fausta Onorato and Sandro Onorato sustained damages to the Onarotos' insured property in a fire allegedly caused by Williams' minor daughter. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for alleged negligence, inattention and violation of lease terms.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in the amount of $84,543.53 plus court costs. It is represented by George A. Miller of Bromberg & Miller in Pittsburgh.
