PHILADELPHIA — A Nebraska company is suing Pennsylvania-based defendants Wood's Edge Builders Inc.; Sher-wal Inc.; W.M.P. Ltd.; The Murry Companies/Sher-Wal Inc. Joint Venture; Murry Communities Ltd. formerly known as The Murry Companies; Murry Development Corporation; WM Murry & Son Inc.; Murry Management Co.; William E. Murry; Robert B. Sherman; and Charles H. Walton, citing alleged copyright infringement.
Design Basics LLC filed a complaint on Feb. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they copied the plaintiff's home designs.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it sustained damages to its business as the result of its designs being copied. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly sell homes and create design drawings based on the plaintiff's work.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunctive relief against the defendants, and any further relief this court grants. The plaintiff is represented by Paul J. Kennedy, Jay A. Dubow and Noah S. Robbins of Pepper Hamilton LLP in Philadelphia.
