Chevron claims former employee took trade information before resigning

Contract 02

PITTSBURGH — Chevron is suing Brian Lipinski, a former employee, citing breach of contract for allegedly taking large amounts of confidential and trade information before resigning to join a competitor.

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and Chevron Appalachia LLC filed a complaint on April 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Lipinski alleging that the former employee misappropriated electronic confidential information from the plaintiff upon his resignation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they sustained damages from having confidential information taken from them. The plaintiffs hold Lipinski responsible because the defendant allegedly copied massive amounts of confidential information regarding oil and gas development onto portable storage devices, in violation of Chevron policy.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory damages, injunctive relief, court costs and for the defendant to immediately return and deliver all plaintiff's property. They are represented by Matthew F. Burger, Erin J. McLaughlin and Tiffany A. Jenca of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC in Pittsburgh.
