PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh couple are suing Howmedica Osteonics Corporation d/b/a Stryker Orthopaedics, alleging the husband's hip implant had a design defect and failed.
David L. Johnson and Paula Johnson filed a complaint on May 16 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the defendant alleging that it manufactured and sold defective hip implants.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they were injured due to the defective nature of the hip implant that he received in 2007. The plaintiffs hold Stryker Orthopaedics responsible because it allegedly failed to warn the plaintiff regarding the defective nature of the implant.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory damages, special damages, double or triple damages, court costs, interest, punitive damages and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Jonathan B. Acklen of Green, Schafle & Gibbs LLC in Philadelphia.
