SCRANTON — The U.S. Department of Labor is suing Alexander's Salon & Spa Inc. d/b/a Alexander's Salon & Spa; Alexander's in the Woods LLC and owner Sherrilyn Tarapchak, alleging the employer failed to pay employees adequate wages and violated Workers' Compensation acts.
R. Alexander Acosta, U.S. Labor Secretary, filed a complaint on May 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they failed to properly compensate their employees.
According to the complaint, the Labor Department claims that the defendants' employees were harmed for not properly being compensated for their work. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to pay minimum wage to their employees.
The plaintiff seeks liquidated damages, injunction, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. The Department is represented by Brian P. Krier of the Office of the Solicitor, Region III, in Philadelphia.
