PHILADELPHIA - An individual is seeking $1 million over allegations that his personal information is available for viewing on court documents online.

David Hatchigian filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania July 14 against Kaplan Stewart Meloff Reiter & Stein PC; Abramson & Denenberg PC; and Stewart Title Guaranty Co., alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the Denenberg law firm filed a complaint for collection purposes against the plaintiff in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas in 2006 and that Stewart's writ of revival and motion for alternative service, which was prepared by Kaplan, was filed in May 2016. The suit states the matter was dismissed in October 2016.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to comply with the court's sealing order of the case, so the plaintiff's Social Security number and other personally identifiable information is unredacted and available for viewing on the court's website.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, actual damages, treble damages, punitive damages, court costs, sum of $1 million and any further relief the court grants. He is representing himself.
