Lineman sues Penn Power over alleged electric shock-related injuries

State Court
Mongeluzzi

PITTSBURGH – A Templeton man is suing a power company after he was allegedly injured by electric shock while installing fiber optic lines.

Harry Nunamaker filed a complaint July 3 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against Penn Power Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a lineman for Salsgiver and on March 15, 2016, was installing fiber optic line near Grove City. The suit states in order to install the line, the plaintiff was required to run a line through rollers on poles owned by the defendant.

The plaintiff alleges overgrown vegetation prohibited him from being able to run the line and he elevated the bucket truck he was using to work around it. The suit states the vegetation came into contact with the power line, causing electric shock and burn injuries to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff alleges that the defendant failed to maintain its high voltage facilities in a safe manner and failed to warn workers of the hazardous conditions.

The plaintiff is seeking at least $50,000 and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Robert J. Mongeluzzi, David L. Kwass and Benjamin J. Baer of Saltz, Mongeluzzi, Barrett & Bendesky PC.
