PITTSBURGH — A woman is claiming a Mooresville dentist negligently pulled a healthy tooth without her consent during a dental extraction instead of her decayed tooth.

Rong Jin Wu filed a complaint June 25 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against David M. Wielechowski, D.M.D., and DMW Family Dentistry Inc., alleging dental malpractice, medical battery and other claims.

Wu sought treatment from Wielechowski for the removal of a decayed tooth on June 23, 2020, according to her suit. She alleges that an X-ray was performed to identify the decayed tooth and that she consented to the removal of the tooth.

Wu further alleges that "immediately upon inspection" she realized Wielechowski had removed the wrong the tooth and extracted a healthy tooth by mistake. She claims Wielechowski then removed the decayed tooth and "insisted" the other tooth he had removed was also infected.

Wu alleges that Wielechowski never indicated the healthy tooth needed to be removed, it was not causing her pain and that he never offered to restore the healthy tooth he had removed. She also alleges she did not consent to the removal of the "healthy" tooth and that she has suffered pain, difficulty chewing and eating and disfigurement.

Wu seeks monetary relief of more than $35,000, trial by jury and all other proper relief. She is represented by Matthew Marquette of Echard Marquette PC in Allison Park.
