The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania reported the following activities in the suit brought by Scott Been against Active World Holdings, Inc. and Alfonso Knoll on Jan. 25.
PHILADELPHIA – A former teacher and member of the LGBTQ community, who claimed she faced discrimination and retaliation by the School District of Philadelphia before being fired and lost her case through summary judgment dismissal, has appealed that decision to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

MEDIA – A Chester woman alleges that a nearby funeral home and local mortuary authorities cremated the remains of another individual, as opposed to her husband, and presented those incorrect remains to her, as her actual husband’s body decomposed in the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s Office.
SCRANTON – A federal judge may grant a final dismissed to a lawsuit from a former member of the Scranton Police Department who claimed her confidential personnel file and personal contact information were leaked without her knowledge as part of discovery in an unrelated case.
PITTSBURGH – A Pennsylvania teenager’s lawsuit against Facebook and Instagram that holds the social media apps responsible for the development of her eating disorder and related self-harm, has been transferred to a federal court in California.
PHILADELPHIA – For the second time, social media app TikTok is requesting a stay of survival and wrongful death litigation brought against it by the mother of a 10-year-old child who died in December due to attempting a “Blackout Challenge”.

PHILADELPHIA — An Amtrak employee who was assaulted by a fellow employee during a staff meeting is claiming the company's negligence. Scott Fleming filed a complaint July 26 in the U.S.
PHILADELPHIA — A former legal assistant at a law firm in Allentown claims she was fired due to her disability. Virginia Borhi filed a complaint Aug. 4 in the U.S.
PHILADELPHIA – A former Pond Lehocky attorney who claimed he was terminated for seeking accommodations during his bout with testicular cancer, has hit back at the firm’s motion to dismiss punitive damages from his complaint.
HARRISBURG – A 5-2 majority of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has affirmed a state’s law permitting mail-in voting, reversing a contrary finding reached in the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in January.

PITTSBURGH – A California man who claimed that he was defrauded of $90,000 he paid to an Israeli lawyer and jewelry company founder, under the pretense that they were to form a professional and potentially romantic partnership, has been granted a default judgment of $190,000.
